Maruti Suzuki cuts price of select Alto K10 & S-Presso modes; details

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has reduced prices of several variants of its Alto K10 and S-Presso models, the company said in a stock exchange filing on Monday.”Maruti Suzuki has reduced prices of select variants of Alto K10 and S-Presso, effective today, September 2, 2024,” the filing said.Notably, the price of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso LXI petrol variant has been reduced by Rs 2,000, while the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 VXI petrol variant has been reduced by Rs 6,500, the statement added.In a separate document dated September 1, Maruti Suzuki had reported a decline of nearly 3.9 percent in sales for August 2024, with 181,782 units sold as against 189,082 units in August 2023. It included 50 domestic market sales and 26,003 export units.

Downturn in small car segment

The company’s August sales decline was largely due to a slowdown in the small car segment, which covers small and compact cars. Sales in this category fell by 18.85% to 68,699 units in August 2024, compared to 84,660 units in the same month a year ago, according to the company’s sales data.The company’s mini segment vehicles, which include the Alto and S-Presso, saw sales decline to 10,648 units in August 2024, compared to 12,209 units in the same period last year. On the other hand, the commercial vehicle segment, which includes models like Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, Invicto, Fronx and XL6, saw a 7% increase in sales from 58,746 units to 62,684 units in August 2023.Sales of E. , while the light commercial vehicle Super Carry registered a slight decline, with 2,495 units sold compared to 2,564 units last year. Domestic sales in August 2024 were also affected, falling 8.4% to 143,075 units from 156,114 units in August 2023, according to the company’s presentation.

Maruti to maintain steady production
On a positive note, Maruti Suzuki’s export figures showed growth, with exports growing by 5.64 percent to 26,003 units in August 2024, against 24,614 units in the corresponding period last year.The company aims to maintain stable production and inventory levels ahead of the upcoming festive season, even as auto dealers face challenges with high levels of unsold inventory at showrooms.
