The ICE version of the Creta has always been known for its rear seat comfort. But how does the new Creta Electric fare in this regard? Let’s check outHyundai Creta Electric was recently launched as the Korean carmaker’s most affordable electric offering in India with prices starting at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). Despite being an SUV, the Creta has always stood out for the comfort it offers, especially in the rear. But how does the Creta Electric fare in this regard? We recently had the Creta EV with us and spent a lot of time in the back seats. Here’s what we found:

What Did We Find?

One of the problems with consumer electric vehicles is the lack of support under the thighs due to the raised floor, as the battery is placed under the floor. However, this is not an issue with the Creta Electric, as Hyundai has cleverly tilted the seat base upwards, while slightly lowering the hip point. Therefore, support under the thighs is not left out. The seat also benefits from adequate headroom, ensuring that there are no problems even with the seat base raised.Leg and knee room is sufficient even for passengers taller than 1.80 m. Like the standard Creta, the flat seat and thin door panels allow three people to sit side by side, although it is a bit tight for larger people. In terms of comfort, the passenger seat features an electric headrest mode feature to improve rear seat space. Rear passengers also benefit from a retractable tray with cup holders and slots to store their phone or tablet so they can Watch something while eating. Rear passengers also benefit from air-conditioned vents and window shades, improving cabin comfort.

Other Features On Board?

Like its internal combustion engine (ICE) version, the Hyundai Creta Electric comes with a host of features. Highlights include dual 10.25-inch screens (one for the instruments and the other for the touchscreen), an 8-speaker Bose audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof and a wireless phone charger. It also features ventilated, 8-way adjustable front seats, with the driver’s seat having a memory function while the passenger seat has a power head mode. It also comes with the Veto-to-load (V2L) feature. The safety suite is also robust with equipment that includes 6 airbags (standard), a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, front and rear parking sensors and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It also benefits from Level 2 advanced driver assistance technology (ADAS) with features such as adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.
