Tata Motors could be weeks away from launching a new electric vehicle, which will indirectly compete with the upcoming Mahindra XEV 7e.
Expanding its electric vehicle lineup from six to seven models, Tata Motors will launch a new flagship model in March: the Harrier.ev. The company unveiled the new electric SUV at the Auto Expo 2025 last month. The Tata Harrier.ev is a heavily modified derivative of the diesel-powered Tata Harrier, as evidenced by the almost identical designIn fact, it is the first electric model to be developed on the D8 platform, something that even JLR has not done. It has a more streamlined look with a new body-colored upper grille with horizontal slats, a new silver lower grille with vertical and diagonal slats, “.ev” badging on the front doors and 19-inch alloy wheels.Inside, apart from a new color scheme, the Harrier.ev is the same as the diesel Harrier. Tata Motors will offer it with features like a panoramic sunroof with ambient lighting, illuminated steering wheel logo, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and ventilated front seats with 6-way power adjustment. and memory function on the driver’s side and 4-way power adjustment on the passenger’s side.Tata Motors may also sell the Harrier.ev in a dark-themed Stealth edition, with matte black paint, a more aggressive design for the 19-inch alloy wheels and granite-colored side sills with two decorative accents. The full specifications of the Harrier.ev are not available at the moment, but Tata Motors has confirmed that it will use an electric motor at both ends for all-wheel drive capability. It is not yet known whether this configuration will be standard or limited to certain configurations, but we do know that it will lead to a torque of 500 Nmthe company will use a 75 kWh battery, based on which we are expecting this new one. The EV travels up to more than 500 km on a full charge. Harrier.ev offers bidirectional vehicle-to-vehicle (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. Prices for the Tata Harrier.ev can start at around INR 23 lakh (ex-showroom).
