Hyundai Motor today unveiled the new SONATA mid-size sedan, which has undergone significant redesign and specification changes for its eighth generation.
The new Sonata features a dynamic, advanced design with low, elegant proportions and more aggressive coupe-like styling, as well as a suite of advanced safety, driver assistance and convenience features. The new Sonata, which will be available in global markets later this year, will be available in standard internal combustion engine (ICE) models, sporty N Line versions and hybrid electric (HEV) versions with a wide range of engine options.
Sensational coupe style with a floating theme in the interior:
The low-slung exterior of the new Sonata is an example of advanced automotive design and embodies the theme of “Sensual Sportiness”. At the front, Hyundai’s signature seamless horizon lamps, widely positioned hidden headlights, wide grille and horizontal layout with integrated air intakes create a more dynamic and aggressive appearance. The integrated lighting of daytime running lights, position lights and indicator lights creates a dramatic lighting effect that gives the car a futuristic look.
At the rear, new H-lights accentuate the SONATA’s wide stance and high-tech character. The curved spoiler-shaped trunk lid and silencer-shaped rear panel promise a sporty driving experience.
The interior of the new Sonata adopts a driver-centric layout to match the sporty exterior, expressing a future-oriented mobility design with high-tech details that support modern lifestyles. SONATA’s new “floating” interior design creates a futuristic atmosphere, further accentuated by ambient lighting.

As sporty as the new Sonata is overall, the N Line goes even further with its dynamic style. The enlarged front bumper grille area, exclusive 19-inch wheels and rear spoiler give the car a more muscular stance, while the twin tailpipe muffler emphasizes the inherent sportiness of the SONATA.
Interior, the red accent seams and cross metallic pattern embellishment emphasize the dynamic sports sedan image. When the 2.5-liter turbo petrol engine is selected, the N Line is available with exclusive features such as Active Sound Design, Launch Control, N Powershift and Rev Matching. Sonata’s signature exterior colors evoke the elegant, high-tech look of ultra-modern aircraft. Aero Silver (Matte/Metallic) in particular is formulated with bright, clean metallic pigments that change from warm to cool depending on the light. Other exterior colors include Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Atlas White, Nocturne Gray (Matte/Metallic), Transmission Blue Pearl, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Ultimate Red Metallic, Cream Beige, and Curated Silver Metallic.
The interior is finished in Black, Dark Gray and Greige (Two-tone), Dark Gray and Camel (Two-tone), Dark Gray and Navy (Two-tone), and Dark Gray with Red Stitching and N-Line Red (N-Line only).

The new SONATA enhances the user experience with a range of convenient technologies and features.
Firstly, the new SONATA can be locked, unlocked and started using the Digital Key2. Near Field Communication (NFC), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Ultra Wideband (UWB) protocols are used with a smartphone or smartwatch (Android and iOS), ensuring a high level of security.
The panoramic curved display with a 12.3-inch driver information cluster integrated with a 12.3-inch Audio-Video Navigation System (AVN) provides the driver with a comprehensive digital experience. Similarly, the Head-Up Display (HUD) displays important information to the driver as a 12-inch projection on the windshield, allowing the driver to process information quickly while keeping their eyes on the road ahead.
An enhanced 12-speaker Bose premium sound system with new CenterPoint 360 technology has been tuned by Bose engineers to deliver an immersive, rich listening experience no matter where you sit. SONATA also features a premium electric trunk for added convenience and luxury.
The new model has taken convenience to the next level with continuous over-the-air (OTA) software updates, which provide an extensible experience as car owners can save money and maintain their cars with the latest software.

The new SONATA is equipped with a range of driving assistance and safety features that provide a comfortable driving experience while reducing user intervention.
Equipped with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5 (FCA1.5), Cross Traffic Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Blind Spot Collision Assist (BCA), Exit Warning System (SEW), Exit Assist (SEA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assistant (LFA), Intelligent Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC with S&G), Navigation-based Intelligent Cruise Control (NSCC) and Highway Driving Assistant (HDA), it reduces the burden on the driver and provides a more comfortable driving experience.
The newly introduced Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) allows users to remotely reverse, park, and exit a parking space from outside the vehicle using a smart key. Rear seat occupant alert detects when a child is left in the car and notifies you to help prevent accidents.
New SONATA design and engineering improvements include improved driving stability and enhanced side impact protection through the use of a crash energy dispersion structure. The new model also offers best-in-class braking performance and stopping distance.
Sonata has further improved NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) performance through body reinforcement and changes to the steering wheel material.
Powertrain with improved performance and fuel economy:
The new Sonata offers improved powertrain performance and fuel economy compared to the previous model, as well as improved smoothness and handling stability, providing a more refined and satisfying driving experience. The lineup includes a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, a 2.5-liter turbo engine, and a 2.0-liter hybrid electric engine (HEV). The 2.5-liter turbo was developed exclusively for the N Line.
The HEV model is equipped with e-Motion Drive, which provides a smooth and comfortable driving experience in a variety of driving conditions, and is the first to feature paddle shifters and regenerative braking mode to further improve fuel efficiency.
The new Sonata’s aerodynamic design improves fuel efficiency and stability at high speeds. It provides excellent aerodynamic performance with drag.
